Beyoglu Istanbul
Beyoğlu comes very much recommended by Istanbul Hotel Booker because it has so much to offer visitors. Choosing an Istanbul hotel here really lets you experience both the old and the new Istanbul, so you get the best of both worlds.

Where to Stay
The district of Beyoğlu covers a large area which incorporates several smaller areas, including Galatasaray and Taksim, both popular choices for a hotel in Istanbul. In addition to being the name of the district, there is also a small area known as Beyoğlu as well, so it can get confusing!
There are a huge number of Istanbul’s hotels situated around Beyoğlu so there is bound to be a hotel just right for your needs and budget, from historic hotels to the most modern with every facility under the sun!
About Beyoğlu
Beyoğlu is a district in the newer city of Istanbul on the European side, and is separated from the historic peninsula by the Golden Horn, though easily accessible by metro. The area really prospered in the 1800’s, when it was called Pera, and after a period of decline it’s now on the up again. Some of Istanbul’s oldest and grandest hotels are here, as well as attractive boutique hotels and some of the newest Istanbul hotels too.
The area’s history goes back far further than the 1800’s though, and parts are actually as old as the old city itself. Galata, for example, which is nearest the Golden Horn has had a settlement since as far back as the 5th century.
What to See
Starting in Galata, top of everyone’s list should be a visit to the Galata Tower as some of the most fantastic views of Istanbul are from the top of this tower, which was built in 1348.
Just up from here is the Whirling Dervish Hall where you can watch a mesmerizing performance on Sundays and some Saturdays throughout the year.
The main attraction of Beyoğlu is İstiklâl Caddesi. This avenue, which is almost a mile long, is where you will spend much of your time if staying in a nearby Istanbul hotel and the great thing is the 1920’s restored tram which runs up and down its length, so you can get from one end to the other in no time or meander along at your own pace looking at the interesting architecture and shops or enjoy a drink or a meal in one of the many café’s or restaurants. At night this becomes one of Istanbul’s most popular streets!
