Taksim Hotels

Taksim is one of the newer parts of Istanbul and is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus. It is the main business district of the city and hence a great location to book an Istanbul hotel if you’re coming here on business.

Taksim isn’t just about business though! All visitors to the city will find this is a good place to stay as a large majority of the hotels in Istanbul are here, and many are situated around the main square.

Those closest to the square tend to be the larger Istanbul hotels and are generally 5 star and luxury rated ones. A little further out from the square and the choice of Istanbul hotels here becomes more varied: 2, 3 and 4 star hotels are plentiful and are suitable for visitors on all budgets.

Transport Links

Being an important centre of the city, transport links are also excellent from here. This means you can stay in a hotel in this part of Istanbul but easily get around on public transport to other parts, such as the historic peninsula which is across the Golden Horn, and to the ferry ports to take you across to the Asian side.

The metro (or underground) goes from here in two directions: either north to Levent, or south (on the section called the funicular) down to the Golden Horn at Kabitaş. From there you can get onto the light railway tram system. Also at one end of the square is a bus station from where you can catch a bus to most parts of the city. This makes one of these Istanbul hotels a great choice to use as a base for exploring the rest of the city.

Entertainment Capital

At night the offices may close but Taksim remains a vibrant place. Much of Istanbul’s entertainment can be found in this region, especially along the famous Istiklal Avenue.

From your Istanbul hotel you can step out to this exciting street where you’ll find clubs and bars playing every kind of music imaginable; some will even have live music on certain nights. Some of the city’s best restaurants are all around this area too so you’re definitely not restricted to your hotel in Istanbul for eating!

Cinemas and theatres are also mainly in this area, so staying in an Istanbul hotel here gives you the opportunity to experience some modern Turkish arts and culture!
