The Ararat Hotel is a very individual, small hotel directly opposite the Blue Mosque.
In terms of location, it cannot get any better than this! The Ararat Hotel is directly opposite the Blue Mosque and has excellent, uninterrupted views of it from the rooftop terrace, lounge and bar, and views from four out of the eleven guest rooms.
This is a very individual, unique and small Istanbul hotel which would particularly appeal to people who prefer individuality and appreciate an arty quirkiness. All rooms have hand-painted Byzantine-inspired murals on the walls and include private bathrooms and air conditioning. A full Turkish breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace during the summer.
Location: The Ararat Hotel is in Sultanahmet, minutes from the Blue Mosque. Istanbul Ataturk Airport is approximately 20 minutes drive away. The nearest tram stop is less than 10 minutes walk.
Nearby Attractions: This Istanbul hotel is situated nearly within the shadow of the magnificent Blue Mosque, which is just a couple of minutes walk away. All of the major historical attractions are within a short walking distance, the closest museum, the Mosaic Museum, can be reached in just a minute or two, Aya Sofya in about 5 minutes, as well as the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art, the Hippodrome and the Basilica Cistern. Topkapi Palace is also within easy walking distance, and though the Grand Bazaar is a little further this can also be comfortably reached on foot, or by taking the tram up the hill.

No other hotel has such a complete view of the Blue Mosque, so for those looking for a small and individual hotel in a prime position, this Istanbul hotel should definitely be considered. Visitors who are looking for a long list of facilities and services however, will not get on here – you’re paying for the location and the uniqueness of this hotel. The Ararat Hotel does however include a full Turkish breakfast which can be enjoyed on the rooftop terrace, or within the rooftop lounge and bar, with uninterrupted views of the Blue Mosque. The unique Byzantine-inspired murals on the walls have been painted by Athenian artist, Nikos Papadakis.
