Review Istanbul Hotels
Elegance in The Old City
I’ve never had the chance to stay in a 5 star hotel before, so when my new husband and I stayed at the Eresin Crown Istanbul Hotel in the Sultanahmet area of the city I was amazed at the luxury and elegance of this great place. It’s situated in the heart of Istanbul’s Old City within walking distance of the Blue Mosque, and it’s a great place to stay if you want to do a little bit of sightseeing while you are there. It’s also perfect for the business travelers, and we saw quite a few professionals coming and going while we were there.
This Istanbul hotel has a very nice rooftop restaurant that overlooks the Blue Mosque and the Marmara Sea. It’s only open in the summer and we had the chance to try it as we were there during the season’s peak. There is another restaurant at the hotel and they served both traditional Turkish fare as well as continental cuisine. Our room was well furnished and decorated as well as comfortable with its own Jacuzzi bathtub, satellite television and mini bar. I will have to admit that the first two nights of our honeymoon we didn’t leave the room especially since this Istanbul hotel has 24 hour room service.
The hotel is located close to many different museums, the Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern, all within walking distance. Plus the Grand Bazaar is only about 15 minutes walking distance away and it’s a great place to find some unique treasures. The rest of the historic peninsula is accessible via tram and you can easily get to the entertainment and business area of Taksim and Istiklal Avenue, which is also accessible by public transportation. The hotel also has its own in-house museum which features about 49 archaeological pieces that were recovered when this Istanbul hotel was built. There was also a cistern and mosaic found which have been restored and added to the museum.
Our only complaint: no swimming pool. But there are plenty of other things around the hotel that make up for it.
